Dew on Rose Petals

I captured this image in my garden shortly after planting a new rose bush. The mature roses turned out to be lavender but this young bloom is obviously pastel pink. I was gratified to see the morning dew drops still on the petals.

This is also my submission for the August BPS photo contest.

July Winning Photo: Bridge to Light, by Josiah Friberg, Blue Ridge Photographic Society

WINNING PHOTO FOR JULY 2007: Every month our has a photography contest around a different theme. This July the theme was "Bridges." When all the votes were in, there was actually a TIE between and Alisha Hauser, for the best bridge photo. For some reason some members thought we needed a tie break, so they voted again and chose this photo, "Bridge to Light," as the tie-breaking winning photograph of the month. By the way, this was photographed in Moravian Falls, just off of Highway 16 South, near the brick Baptist Church. I was fortunate to arrive early one foggy morning with my tripod, and I proceeded to shoot the bridge from every angle. I loved the way the morning light was trying to pierce through the fog in the trees. Glory to God for creating such a beautiful scene for me to capture!

B&W of Child in the Light, by Josiah Friberg

This is the same photo in black & white, but with the window cropped out.

Child in the Light, by Josiah Friberg

I took this in our basement with natural diffused light coming in and landing on the child's face.

Silent Prayer for the Unborn, by Josiah Friberg

This was taken at "The CALL - Nashville" on 07-07-07.

Sunrise Over Lake Norman, by Josiah Friberg

Only early risers ever get to see such beauty as this. I couldn't sleep very well, so I was up and out walking around with my camera at 430 in the morning, and lo and behold, God was out painting the sky right before my very eyes. I felt so privileged to be able to sit in on His artistic show.

Fall Canopy, by Josiah Friberg

Last fall we had the most beautiful autumn here in the Blue Ridge mountains. I was fortunate to capture this shot early one morning right across the street from my house. Only John Rogers, and maybe a few others, know the secrets hiding behind this photograph.

U.S.S. Constitution

I took this last summer in Boston Harbor. Once a year they take "Old Ironsides" out to stretch her legs, and I just happened to be going by in a boat while touring the harbor islands.

Bridge at Moravian Falls

This picture was also considered as a submission for the July "Bridge" Photo Competition.

Gentle Stream

The Blue Ridge Photographic Society held its first monthly competition in July 2007. The goal was to take a bridge picture. This photo received honorable mention, but no more because the bridge was so hidden behind the trees. But it's still a great picture!

You will see the winning picture posted soon. Our competition for the month of August is for "plant life/floral." If you would like to join us and enter a submission, please join us at Talia's in Wilkesboro, NC on Saturdays, 2-4 pm.
